Chair of the Committee of European Auditing Oversight Bodies (CEAOB) Panos Prodromides is set to meet with the Commission for Public Oversight of Registered Auditors (CPORA), the leadership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and representatives of major international auditing firms in Bulgaria on September 26 and 27, CPORA said on Wednesday.

Prodromides was elected in June 2024 for a four-year term. The meeting will discuss the Chair's vision for the organisation's future, strategic goals, and mission. An international conference in Bulgaria titled The Future of Auditing will also be organised with CEAOB's participation .

On September 27, Prodromides will meet with Deputy Finance Minister Martin Danovski, who oversees the Public Financial Inspection Agency, the Audit of EU Funds Executive Agency, and the Control Methodology and Internal Audit Directorate at the Ministry of Finance.

CEAOB is the framework for cooperation between national auditing oversight bodies at the EU level.

The organisation aims to strengthen the role of audit oversight across the EU, a key objective of EU legislation on mandatory audits, which came into effect on June 17, 2016.

CEAOB consists of representatives from the national auditing oversight bodies of EU member states, with the European Securities and Markets Authority, the European Banking Authority, and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority acting as observers.
