The Allegra Studia children's and youth performing arts school in Stara Zagora won the prestigious Best Dramatic Presentation Award of the European Science Fiction Society by presenting its School of Witchcraft show, the school told BTA. Allegra Studia was presented the award at the 2024 Eurocon festival in Rotterdam.
School of Witchcraft is based on a script by Nikola Raykov, and is directed, choreographed and adapted by Radost Mladenova-Arabadzhieva. The show was performed with the financial support of the National Culture Fund.
Bulgaria won a total of four Eurocon awards for the first time since 2003, Allegra Studia representatives said. At the prestigious forum, School of Witchcraft left behind a number of impressive nominations, including French sci-fi anime Mars Express, which was screened as an official selection at the Cannes festival, Spanish video game Blasphemous 2, and the second season of the British TV series Good Omens, an adaptation of the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, which has three Emmy nominations.
