Thunderstorms are expected to hit the Bulgarian mountains around noon on Tuesday and the Mountain Rescue Service advised hikers to refrain from trekking at high altitudes. 

The mountain hiking conditions in Western Bulgaria are bad. There is broken cloud with light wind. The weather is expected to worsen in the afternoon.

There were no incidents with tourists on Monday.

National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology's mountain weather forecast: Cumulus cloud with rain and thunderstorms, occasionally intense. Almost no rain in the Strandzha and the eastern Balkan. Light southeasterly wind, stronger during storms. Highs: 24C at 1,200 m, 16C at 2,000 m.
