More than 20 representatives of enterprises and companies from Vratsa on Tuesday participated in a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bulgaria Simon van der Burg. 

The first official visit to the city by van der Burgh was initiated at the invitation of the MP from Vratsa Denitsa Simeonova and organized with the assistance of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vratsa. Simeonova pointed out that the visit is an important sign of the ambassador's commitment to building strong ties between Bulgaria and the Netherlands, adding that "for more than a decade, the Netherlands have been in first place in terms of foreign direct investment in Bulgaria."

Simon van der Burg thanked for the invitation and indicated that the city and its surroundings made a great impression on him. According to him, there are indeed many business opportunities in the region. "Together with you, we want to discuss and look for opportunities. You are also looking for more talents, and currently there are about 5,000 Bulgarian students studying in the Netherlands, which represents a huge opportunity, so we hope more of them are interested in returning to Bulgaria and Vratsa", the ambassador said.

The ambassador was accompanied by the adviser on economic affairs at the embassy Monika Nikolova and representatives of the Dutch-Bulgarian business organization and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria The meeting was attended by representatives of the construction business, tourism, transport services, telecommunications, sewing industry, food production, and many more.

In her welcome, the administrative secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vratsa, Maria Panayotova, emphasised that Bulgaria and the Netherlands enjoy long-standing and successful cooperation in various fields, especially in the economy and trade. She noted that in recent years the Netherlands have established itself as one of Bulgaria's leading economic partners.
