site.btaBorder Traffic Update
There is heavy truck traffic at some of the checkpoints on Bulgaria’s border with Romania, Greece, Serbia and Turkiye, the Border Police said on its website early Tuesday morning.
At the border with Romania, outbound traffic is heavy at the Kardam and Durankulak checkpoints. On the Romanian authorities' request, the working hours of the Nikopol ferry checkpoint on Tuesday will be from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The change is necessary due to a power outage at the Turnu Magurele border checkpoint between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Temporary traffic changes have been introduced across Danube Bridge at Ruse due to major repairs on the Bulgarian section of the bridge. Traffic is carried out in one lane and is regulated by traffic lights, the Bulgarian border police recalled. Alternative routes can go through the checkpoints at Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kaynardzha or Krushari. The latter two have working hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day and are closed for commercial trucks.
At the border with Greece, there is heavy incoming and outbound traffic at the Makaza and Kulata checkpoints. The Border Police advise those travelling to and from Greece to use alternative, less congested routes. Tourists travelling to resorts in the area of Thessaloniki, Kavala and the Chalkidiki peninsula can pass through the Ilinden border crossing as an alternative to the one at Kulata. People travelling to resorts in the area of Xanthi, Komotini and the islands of Thassos can use the Zlatograd border crossing as an alternative to Makaza. Those headed to resorts near the town of Alexandroupolis are advised to go through the Kaptain Petko Voyvoda checkpoint. Only cars and vans are allowed to pass through the border crossings Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad.
At the border with Serbia, traffic is heavy for outbound cars at the Kalotina checkpoint.
There is also heavy traffic for incoming cars at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the border with Turkiye.
Traffic is normal at all border crossing points on the border with the Republic of North Macedonia.
