site.bta216,256 Unemployed People Found Work through Labour Offices in 2019

January 15 (BTA) - In 2019, 216,256 jobless people found employment through labour offices, the Employment Agency said on Wednesday.

Since the beginning of 2019, 24,412 youths under 29 have found employment, as well as 24,398 long-term unemployed, 43,975 jobless over 55, 13,954 disabled people and 58,782 unskilled job applicants. The Agency helped 21,683 people to improve their qualification or acquire new skills through various training schemes, funded by the national budget and the European Social Fund.

In December, the unemployment rate was 5.9 per cent. Compared with 2018 there was a decrease of 0.2 per cent. There were 194,714 jobless people registered with the labour offices, down by 3.4 per cent from a year earlier. For the first time the number of the unemployed in the month of December dropped below 200,000.

In December. 11,324 people started work. Some 643 people from risk groups found employment through subsidized schemes.

There were 7,575 jobs vacancies on the primary labour market in December. Of these 75.5 per cent were in te private sector.

The greatest demand was recorded in the processing industry, commerce, auto repairs, the public administration, the hospitality industry, and administration. RY/PP
