"German Lessons" Named Best Film at Sveti Vlas Festival

German Lessons by director Pavel Vesnakov won the Best Film Award at the Sveti Vlas Film Fest on Sunday.

The Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role was won by Eli Skorcheva for her part in Blaga's Lessons. Deputy Culture Minister Ilko Ganev presented the award to Skorcheva, who said that there is a need for such events that promote Bulgarian cinema and raise its authority. The film also earned director Stefan Komandarev the Best Director Award. 

The Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role was conferred on Julian Vergov for his part in German Lessons. In the category for Best Screenplay, Yana Lekarska received an award for the film Because I Love Bad Weather. The Best Cinematography Award went to Andrey Andreev for Trust Game.

The statuette for Best Actress in a Supporting Role went to Petra Tsarnorechka for the film Dyada, while Gerasim Georgiev-Gero won the Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his roles in the films German Lessons, Blaga's Lessons and The Good Driver.

The jury also evaluated short films shot by mobile phone. Works by Nia Petrova, Ana Tsvetkova and Vladimir Goranov received distinctions. The Best Short Film Award was presented to Vladimir Goranov.

The Sveti Vlas Film Fest was organized by Dinevi Group, with the support of the National Film Centre and the municipalities of Burgas, Nessebar and Sveti Vlas. BTA was the media partner for the film festival.
