The White Brotherhood marked the 160th anniversary of their spiritual teacher Peter Dеunov with a news conference at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia on Wednesday. "The Master's word is a great and rich heritage for all. These are about 7,000 lectures, grouped in different classes," Tsveta Kotseva told BTA.

The supporters of the White Brotherhood mark the anniversary with celebrations across the country as well as abroad. Lectures, concerts and spiritual services have been held since mid-June. The programme will also include discussions, musical recitals and circles.

Peter Dеunov considered that eating is in first place in life and music comes second, as it has the ability to heal. That is why it is very important for his supporters to celebrate their holidays through concerts and musical performances, said Sofia Brotherhood’s coordinator Yoanna Nikolova-Kar.

The programme of the celebrations is very varied, with much of it taking place on Opalchenska Street in Sofia. Entrance will be free for all events, Nikolova-Kar added.

A seminar on panevrythmy is planned in Varna, as well as an opportunity for the relatives of Peter Deunov to take part in the celebrations, said Antoaneta Salfij, member of the Brotherhood’s Control Council of Sofia. In her words, the crowning glory of the celebrations in Bulgaria will be a gathering in Aytos.

"It is an extremely important event for the Brotherhood. In practice, fraternal meetings have been held since 1920. This is the first Brotherhood’s gathering in Bulgaria. The place, called The Garden of Aytos, is very important for us, because conditions for fraternal life are created there,'' Salfij said.

In her words, it is expected that the supporters of Deunov will join the celebration not only in Bulgaria but everywhere in the world, where panevrythmy is spread.

Peter Konstantinov Deunov, called by his supporters "The Master" or Beinsa Duno, was a Bulgarian philosopher, founder of a religious-philosophical doctrine called the Universal White Brotherhood, which identifies itself as esoteric Christianity and occultism. He was born on July 1,1864 in the Varna village of Hadarcha, then in the Ottoman Empire.

Deunov proffered an occult mixture of ideas for soul, brain and heart development, and of resuscitation of the body. He considered God to be a pantheist deity, while Christ was an occult teacher and the leader of a universal brotherhood. The universe was the home to angels, archangels and other supernatural creatures and forces, and human souls were reborn. Deunov considered the white race to be superior as it was the most developed in comparison to all others. It was the final evolutionary step before the attainment of a hypothetical "sixth," "supreme race." To achieve perfection, all human souls had to be reborn as white people.

To support his teachings, Deunov used astrology, numerology, phrenology, palmistry and graphology.
