There is money for high salaries and pensions, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) co-leader Assen Vassilev said here on Thursday, as quoted by the coalition's press centre. According to Vassilev, it is possible for Bulgaria to pursue a European economic and financial policy, which leads to faster economic growth and faster catching up with the average European economic level. "The Bulgarian economy is growing by 14% (excluding inflation). This is the fifth highest growth in the EU and almost three-fold faster than the German economy," Vassilev said.

Regarding the distribution of money in the State, the main difference between the "meager pizza" model and the European economic model is how money is distributed in the State, Vassilev also said. In his words, under the "meager pizza" model, most of the taxes collected go to a small number of companies and oligarchs, while the population is either poor or emigrating and there is almost no middle class.

In a European economic model, the taxes collected are distributed to the bulk of the population in the form of wages, pensions, funds for education, healthcare and public infrastructure, and a broad middle class is built, Vassilev explained. The main European policies that help to reduce inequality are raising incomes and a more equal regional distribution of investments, Vassilev argued.
