site.btaBlue Bulgaria Aims to Keep State out of Economy and Business to Fight Corruption

Blue Bulgaria offers a radically different programme for the management of the country, which contains the only realistic solution to combating political corruption, said Petar Moskov, one of the leaders of the right-wing union. Moskov argued that the way to fight multibillion-dollar corruption is to remove the State from the economy and businesses. 

The ability for politicians to hand out taxes on behalf of the State is the biggest corruption machine that sinks billions every year, he added, noting that BGN 12 billion are planned for this year alone for such financing, half of which will sink into corrupt schemes or be directly stolen. 

Blue Bulgaria will stop this by limiting the role of the State in trade turnover and business, ending the schemes for financing concrete, asphalt and low-quality construction with tax-payers' money. The construction of the national road infrastructure must be done with private capital, Moskov argued. This will lead not only to higher quality, but also to a much faster completion of construction. "Less State in the economy means more State where it is really needed," he pointed out, adding that the state should not be a trader and a big investor, but only a regulator and guarantor of the rights and freedoms of citizens.
In this way, tax funds will go towards health, education and social programmes.

One of Blue Bulgaria's main priorities is stimulating private initiative, especially of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, that is why the formation's programme includes a number of measures in this direction, said representatives of the coalition in Varna, quoted by the formation's headquarters. Important highlights of the programme are the gradual easing of the tax burden and reduction of the administrative burden.
