The hosts of the ninth festival "On the other Bulgaria's marketplace" welcomed the ensemble "Zora" from Paris on the festival's Facebook page. The travelling festival starts on Saturday - May 11, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
"For 17 years now, ensemble “Zora” has been performing on international stages, conveying the richness and beauty of Bulgarian folklore. It takes part in numerous cultural events in France and other European countries - Belgium, England, Italy, Spain, Germany and others," the release says.
In October 2023, the group won first prize in the over-18 category at the "Maleshevo Sings and Dances" festival. Its repertoire includes both original dance performances and works by notable names of Bulgarian folk art, the organisers of the folklore festival said.
This year's edition of the festival will be hosted by the "Bulgaria" dance group from Palma de Mallorca, headed by Stanimir Minchev.
The organizers officially opened the charity campaign of the ninth edition of the festival, which will support a cause to help hearing impaired children in Bulgaria.
For this purpose, sign language training will be organized for ten hearing teachers who work in three schools and several centres for deaf children. It will include six seminars and weekly classes led by five deaf teachers in Bulgarian sign language.
