site.btaLabour Ministry: 7,424 Unemployed Registered in Single Day

April 8 (BTA) - A total of 7,424 unemployed persons were
registered in a single day on Tuesday, of which 5,845 said they
have lost their jobs because of the crisis, the Labour and
Social Policy Ministry reported here on Wednesday.

The total number of registered unemployed people between March
13, when the state of emergency was declared in response to the
spread of the COVID-19 virus, and April 7, stands at 61,644. On
the other hand, a total of 9,830 people have started working
since March 13. The sectors in which they found employment are
in the food processing industry, deliveries, office work,
security, waste recycling and social work, the Ministry
explained.

 A total of 24,333 applications for monetary compensations have
been registered with the National Social Security Institute. A
total of 15,404 compensations have been provided.

The number of applications under the 60/40 state job retention
scheme received by the Employment Agency is 873, which pertain
to 12,455 workers and staff.

The ordinance regulating the state job retention scheme is to be
