Stara Zagora Thursday hosted a round table on "Balancing the Energy Transition: Deploying Energy Storage Technologies in Bulgaria". It is organized by the Center for the Study of Democracy. Opportunities that would open to the Bulgarian business in the process of implementing storage systems in the energy system of Bulgaria were discussed.
During the discussion, participants agreed that Stara Zagora is the region where the process of green transformation is expected to have the most tangible consequences. This also includes the integration of renewable energy sources, as well as energy storage technologies and systems. Battery technologies will ease the path to decarbonization and provide electricity utilities with certainty as grid-connected variable renewable energy technologies such as wind and solar energy grow.
The first part discussed the opportunities for the development of the energy system of Bulgaria through the schemes for financing storage systems, which are included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
In the second part, business representatives presented their plans for investment in the sector and the role that batteries can play in the ongoing decentralization of electricity generation and consumption as an approach to both decarbonization of business processes and optimization of production costs.
