site.bta878 Confirmed Coronavirus Cases in Bulgaria

April 18 (BTA) - Confirmed coronavirus cases in the
country have reached 878, the Health Ministry said on Saturday
afternoon.
 
During the day 13 news infections were confirmed: 8 in Sofia, 3
in Sliven, 1 in Stara Zagora and 1 in Yambol.

Some 246 patients have been hospitalized, with 35 in intensive
care units..

There are in total 41 fatalities since the outbreak started.

Nine more medical staff members have been infected, bringing the
  total to 66, national coronavirus task force chief Major
General Ventsislav Moutafchiiski told a briefing on Saturday
morning. Many of the infected medics work in the hospital in
Vidin where the neurology ward will have to be closed and
patients will be directed to other hospitals.

Hospital beds dedicated to the treatment of coronavirus are
still available but there is a risk that medical staff may be
depleted, said Moutafchiiski. RY/PP
