site.btaUK Embassy Hosts Roundtable on Promoting Bulgarian-British Technological Cooperation

The British Embassy in Bulgaria hosted a roundtable on promoting ties between  Bulgarian and British technology ecosystems. The event was attended by British Ambassador Rob Dixon,  UK Trade Commissioner for Europe Chris Barton, Outgoing Innovation Milena Stoycheva, representatives of the Bulgarian Expansion Bridge, an organization supporting Bulgarian businesses in the UK, and Bulgarian entrepreneurs, the Innovation Ministry said. 

The roundtable identified measures to advance cooperation between the Bulgarian and British technology ecosystems.

"We are working on creating better conditions for startups, improving the business environment, attracting strategic investors to Bulgaria and closer cooperation between business, academia and government," Stoycheva said.

Stoycheva provided information on the methodology for granting grants for priority investment projects of Bulgarian and foreign companies in the manufacturing industry.
"We have brought together nine ministries and three agencies in a joint effort to attract and promote investment. We have established a task force to assist major investment projects in the pre-selection stage. We are working on more measures to improve the conditions for business development in Bulgaria," she said, referring to the launch of the Innovation Board and the joint programme with the European Investment Bank to facilitate access to finance for emerging companies in Bulgaria.

Stoycheva and Georgian Ambassador Bulgaria Otar Berdzenishvili discussed  the opportunities for deepening bilateral relations in the field of innovation. The Ambassador expressed his wish to include Georgia in the initiative to turn South-Eastern Europe into an innovation hub.
