Sofia, May 9 (BTA) - The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria total 1,921 as of Saturday afternoon, said the Health Ministry. There are 10 new cases during the day, including five in Pazardjik, four in Kyustendil and one in Vratsa.

A total of 389 patients are in hospital, including 56 in intensive care.

Among the patients are 206 medical professionals, which is 11 per cent of all COVID cases.

Female patients outnumber male patients: 983 against 938. The average age of the patients is 48.6 years.

A total of 90 COVID patients have died. Two more fatalities were reported on Saturday in Sofia.

The infection has spread to 12 of the 28 regions in the country, Turgovishte being the latest to be affected.

A patient in Kurdjali who had COVID and then was considered recovered with a negative test, has tested positive again. Other countries have reported such cases and the World Health Organization believes that in such cases the virus had migrated to the lower part of the respiratory tract, said the task force secretary, Dimo Dimov.

The task force has said that tricter lockdown measures will be reintroduced after three days with over 100 new cases. LN///
