The Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism (BUBST) will officially present this country as a destination for year-round health tourism and the possibilities for prevention and rehabilitation, the funds for which will be reimbursed by the German health funds, the BUBST said. The event is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and will take place during the largest international tourism exhibition in the world, ITB Berlin.

Guests at the event include Tourism Ministrer Zaritsa Dinkova, the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Germany Grigor Porozhanov and the  Secretary Generalof the European SPA Csilla Mezosi. The evenet will be moderated by the official BUBST representative in Germany, Carmen Struck.

The German market is key for Bulgarian health tourism, because more than 20 million people annually use the opportunities for outpatient prophylaxis in the country and abroad, provided to them by their health insurance, said BUBST. In 2019, the German  National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds included Bulgaria in the list of countries in which it recognizes and reimburses the costs of prevention and rehabilitation.

Tuesday's event in Berlin is part of the programme and consistent policy of the Bulgarian Balneology and Spa Tourism Union for positioning and rebranding this country on the German market as a destination for year-round quality health tourism. The President of the Union, the Secretary General, members of the Management Board, mayors of municipalities and the investors of the largest Bulgarian Medical/SPA and SPA sites, providing high-quality year-round health tourism service, arrived in Berlin to participate.

The exhibition will lasts until March 7. Bulgaria will be represented by 35 Bulgarian tourism companies and 9 municipal administrations, who will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and make business contacts by holding meetings in specially designed and branded individual workplaces. The Bulgarian stand, with an area of 500 square metres, will be opened by Minister Dinkova, the Ministry of Tourism said.
