Bulgarian and Hungarian artists will present a joint textile exhibition at the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA). The display will be on between February 29 to March 27 in the Raiko Alexiev Hall, the Union said.
"We will see tapestries by Hungarian and Bulgarian artists, as well as examples of contemporary textile art," say the organizers.
They note that in 2020 the first joint Hungarian-Bulgarian textile exhibition was presented in Budapest, based on an idea of the Association of Hungarian Tapestry Artists. The current exhibition is the second part of the project - this time in Sofia, in the space of Raiko Alexiev Hall of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
"These joint events show the endless possibilities of the art of textiles, which blossomed as wall decoration in medieval Europe and became one of the forms of contemporary art in the 20th century. The Hungarian group works in a very well-equipped weaving studio and designs and executes commissions for the interiors of prestigious objects. Unfortunately, in Bulgaria, such ateliers, which functioned until the 1990s, no longer exist, the need for this exquisite form is almost forgotten," says the Union.
