site.btaGeneral Government's Gross External Debt Decreases in End of March

May 28 (BTA) - Bulgaria's gross external debt totalled 33,495.1 million euro (51 per cent of the projected GDP) as at end-March 2020, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said. It decreased by 576.2 million euro (1.7 per cent) from the end of 2019 and by 738.3 million euro (2.2 per cent) from March 2019.

Long-term liabilities totalled 25,705.1 million euro (76.7 per cent of the total debt, 39.3 per cent of the GDP)) as at end-March 2020, decreasing by 197 million euro, or 0.8 per cent, from March 2019.

The gross external debt of the General Government Sector totalled 5,375.5 million euro (8.3 per cent of GDP) as at end-March 2020. It decreased by 52 million euro, or 1 per cent, from end-2019 and by 62.1 million euro (1.1 per cent) from March 2019.

The external debt of the Banks Sector totalled 4,326.8 million euro (6.7 per cent of GDP). It dropped by 574.6 million euro (11.7 per cent) from end-2019, and by 291.1 million euro (6.3 per cent) from March 2019.

Gross external debt service totalled 1,088.1 million euro (1.7 per cent of GDP) in January-March 2020, compared with 1,472.1 million euro (2.4 per cent of GDP) in January-March 2019. RY/ZH
