Bulgaria's Council of Ministers on Wednesday adopted draft amendments to the Civil Aviation Act harmonizing the domestic framework with the relevant EU legislative acts, the Government Information Service reported. The bill covers aviation security, charges for administrative services and administrative penalty provisions.
Tranposing changes in EU law related to cyber security in civil aviation, the draft revisions would oblige airport operators, air carriers and entities designated in the National Programme for Civil Aviation Security to identify and defend against cyber attacks their information and communication technological systems and critical data that may affect the security of civil aviation.
Under the proposed amendments, air carriers operating on scheduled international services by virtue of international agreements would be designated by order of the Minister of Transport and Communications so as to ease the administrative procedure.
