Grandmaster Antoaneta Stefanova won the silver medal at the European Women's Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, held in Monte Carlo. The Bulgarian chess player finished the 11-round rapid chess competition with 8.5 points after six wins, five draws, and not a single loss.
Stefanova was only half a point behind Alexandra Kosteniuk (Switzerland), who won the gold in the blitz event as well.
The other Bulgarian chess players ranked as follows: Nurgyul Salimova 7th with 8 points, Beloslava Krasteva 21st with 8 points, and Viktoria Radeva 55th with 5.5 points, out of a total of 116 players in Monte Carlo.
