site.bta14 Parties Fail to Submit Financial Statements for 2019 - National Audit Office

June 30 (BTA) - Fourteen parties have failed to submit
financial statements for 2019, the National Audit Office (NAO)
reported here on Tuesday.

A total of 112 political parties have submitted statements and
lists of donors, thus meeting the deadline under the Political
Parties Act and the subsequent extension due to the emergency
situation in response to the spread of COVID-19.

Those who failed to submit annual financial statements are:
Bulgarian Agrarian Party, Bulgarian Union for Direct Democracy,
VOT-Conservatives, Civil Union for True Democracy (GORD),
Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement, Movement for European
Integration, Movement for Equal Social Model (DROM), The Other
Bulgaria, MIR, National Alternative Kin, Community, State
(NAROD), New Alternative, New Bulgaria, Political Party
Fatherland and the Christian Democratic Party of Bulgaria.

The NAO will inform the prosecuting magistracy that
VOT-Conservatives and The Other Bulgaria have failed to submit
financial statements for a second year in a row.

In addition to that, the New Time, SHTIT and Democratic Civil
Initiative parties have submitted their statements after the
deadline, but in compliance with the Political Parties Act.

All parties that have failed to present statements or submitted
such after the legally set deadline, will be subject to fines
between 5,000 and 10,000 leva. 

The NAO has published information about the reports on its
website at www.bulnao.government.bg.

A list of parties that have received a state subsidy in 2019 has
 also been published. The NAO has commenced its annual audit of
the financial activity, revenues, expenditure and property
management by the political parties that have received a state
subsidy in the previous year, used the property allocated to
them and taken part in elections, the press release said. RY/MY
