State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad (SABA) Executive Director Raina Mandzhukova met with the Chair of the Coordination Council of the Bulgarian Cultural Centre in Chisinau, Ivan Zhelyapov, with Bessarabian Bulgarian Oksana Zhelyapova and with SABA Rapporteur for Moldova Ashot Kazaryan, the agency wrote on its website on Friday.

They discussed current issues relevant to the Bulgarian community in Moldova and the development of SABA's relations with Bulgarian organizations in that country. Zhelyapov said the Bulgarian organizations in the former Soviet republic manage to stay active despite existing difficulties and red tape, but they need support from Sofia.

The sides considered a future meeting between SABA and the Bulgarian organizations in Moldova as a first step towards restarting relations and engaging in fruitful cooperation.
