The Bulgarian representative folklore ensemble Shevitsa will stage a concert performance at Dom kultúry Lúky in Bratislava on December 5, BTA learned from Denica Sekoulitchka, chair of the Bulgarian Cultural Union (Bulharsky kulturny zvaz) in Slovakia and editor of the Compatriot (Krajan) magazine. The concert is organized by the Union and is part of the Evening of Bulgarian Culture and Folklore, which has now become a tradition.

The event will be held under the auspices of the Bulgarian Ambassador to Slovakia, Vassil Petkov, with support from Slovakia’s Minority Culture Fund.

The Shevitsa ensemble said that their performance was inspired by the short story Bozhura, written by Bulgarian writer Yordan Yovkov. "The audience will be able to enjoy some well-known as well as new works from the repertoire of the Shevitsa representative folklore ensemble," the organizers added, noting that their dancers and singers will present a modern interpretation of a bygone era.

The Shevitsa ensemble was established in 2013. Touring both in Bulgaria and abroad, it presents works by distinguished Bulgarian choreographers and original works by choreographer, director, and founder of the ensemble and the Shevitsa Foundation, Petar Angelov.
