site.btaJune Industrial Production Index Up 5.8 Per Cent M/M, Down 7.7 Per Cent Y/Y

August 10 (BTA) - Compared to May 2020, the June
Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, increased by
5.8 per cent, according to preliminary data of the National
Statistical Institute released on Monday.

In June 2020 the working day adjusted Industrial Production
Index dropped by 7.7 per cent compared to a year earlier.

Compared to May 2020, the seasonally adjusted Industrial
Production Index in June rose in the mining and quarrying
industry by 9.1 per cent, in manufacturing by 6.0 per cent, and
in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 5.2
per cent.

The most significant production increases in manufacturing were
registered in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and
semi-trailers (by 73.2 per cent), furniture (by 24.0 per cent),
tobacco products (by 15.9 per cent), and wood and products of
wood and cork, except furniture; articles of straw and plaiting
materials (by 14.8 per cent). Important decreases were seen in
the manufacture of apparel (by 19.5 per cent) and of fabricated
metal products, except machinery and equipment (by 5.0 per
cent).

Year-on-year, in June 2020 the Industrial Production Index
calculated from working day adjusted data went down in
manufacturing by 9.7 per cent and in electricity, gas, steam and
 air conditioning supply by 8.5 per cent, while production rose
in the mining and quarrying industry by 14.9 per cent.

In manufacturing, more considerable decreases compared to June
2019 were registered in other manufacturing (by 43.5 per cent),
in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 29.9 per
 cent, in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment
 by 25.9 per cent, and the manufacture of motor vehicles,
trailers and semi-trailers by 25.1 per cent. Major increases
were seen in the manufacture of basic metals by 31.1per cent,
the manufacture of other transport equipment by 18.8 per cent,
and the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and
pharmaceutical preparations by 6.0 per cent./RI/BR
