Bulgaria's gross domestic product growth slowed down in the third quarter of 2023 on an annual basis, according to a search in the results of the flash estimates of the National Statistical Institute (NSI). On a quarterly basis, the GDP growth rate is unchanged.

In the third quarter of 2023, the country's GDP increased by 1.7% compared to the third quarter of 2022 and by 0.4% compared to the second quarter of 2023, according to seasonally adjusted data, the NSI reported on Tuesday. In the second quarter of 2023, the GDP grew by 1.8% from the second quarter of 2022 and by 0.4% from the first quarter of 2023, flash estimates show.  

In the third quarter of 2023, according to seasonally adjusted data, GDP increased by 1.7% compared to the third quarter of 2022. Gross Value Added increased by 0.6%. Final consumption registered an increase of 6.1%, and gross fixed capital formation increased by 9.4% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the third quarter of 2022 at seasonally adjusted data. Exports of goods and services decreased by 7.8%, and imports of goods and services decreased by 7.5%

According to the flash GDP estimates for the third quarter of 2023, GDP at current prices was BGN 47,732.8 million. The Gross Value Added generated in the third quarter of 2023 amounted to BGN 41,640.4 million. A search in the NSI data shows that in the second quarter of 2023, GDP in nominal terms reached BGN 40,959.5 million, and the Gross Value Added in the same period amounted to BGN 35,946.2 million.
