August 16 (BTA) - Three key junctions remain blocked in
Sofia on the 39th day of the anti-government protests in
Bulgaria. There is almost no police presence in the blocked off areas, as there are no tensions so far. Due to the lack of traffic, the boulevards are used by people to practice sports and go on walks.

Traffic in front of the Romanian Embassy on Saturday was normal,
after the intersection was blocked again for several hours on
Friday night by protesters, and subsequently freed without the
participation of the police, and with some tension between
protesters and drivers willing to pass through.

Short blockades of key junctions are also organized in other
Bulgarian cities such as Varna, Stara Zagora and Ruse.

Nurses from different parts of the country will go on an indefinite protest on Monday and will set up a tent camp in front of the Ministry of Health in Sofia, BNR reports. "The authorities absolutely neglect medical professionals," said Maya Ilieva, chairperson of the Union of Bulgarian Medical Specialists. She explained that only doctors are a party to the National Framework Agreement and medical specialists are excluded. RI/DT
