site.bta169 New COVID-19 Cases Confirmed In 24 Hours, Country Marks 32.8 Drop in Coronavirus Cases

August 19 (BTA) - A hundred and sixty-nine new COVID-10
cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours out of 3,667 tests,
according to data on the national coronavirus portal published
on Wednesday.

The capital Sofia recorded the largest number of cases, at 33,
followed by Blagoevgrad with 28 and Varna with 18.

The total number of COVID-19 infections in the country now
stands at 14,669. Of these, 4,451 cases are active.

A total of 9,699 patients have recovered, with 257 in the past
24 hours. Seven hundred and eighty-two people are hospitalized,
with 61 in intensive care units.

Some 519 patients have died, with seven deaths in the past 24
hours.

A total of 281 doctors have been infected with coronavirus, as
well as 274 nurses.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov quoted on his
Facebook account the latest data from the European Centre for
Disease Prevention and Control, according to which Bulgaria
marked a 32.8 per cent drop in coronavirus cases:

"According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and
Control, Bulgaria marks a 32.8 per cent decrease in the
incidence of COVID-19 compared to the last two weeks. During the
 same period, Croatia has an increase in infection by 181 per
cent, France has an increase of 106 per cent, the Netherlands's
cases are up by 46 per cent and cases in Greece are up by 51per
cent. As the pandemic grows around the world, Bulgaria is one of
 the few countries that manages it properly," Borissov said in
