site.btaProsecutor General Geshev: "Arguments in Sarafovo Bombing Case Due on September 17"

August 28 (BTA) - On September 17, the first-instance Specialized Criminal Court is due to hear the main arguments of the parties in the July 18, 2012 Bourgas Sarafovo bus bombing case, which will be followed by a sentence, Bulgaria's Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev said here on Friday, asked about the progress of the case.

In the case, Hassan El Hajj Hassan, 28 (dual Lebanese-Canadian national), and Meliad Farah, 35 (dual Lebanese-Australian national), are tried in their absence for terrorism, murder of 6 persons (five Israeli holiday-makers and their Bulgarian driver), attempted murder of 35 persons, and damage to property (the destruction of the bus on board of which the bomb exploded and another one that was parked nearby). Mohamad Hassan El Husseini (dual Lebanese-French citizen) has been identified as the suicide bomber.

"I hope that justice will be done for the deceased citizens of the State or Israel and the Bulgarian citizen," Geshev said. In his opinion, the evidence gathered shows that Hezbollah is behind that terrorist act "logistically and financially". In his words, the two men who are on trial in the case are linked to that organization. They have been put on an international wanted list.

Geshev and National Police General Directorate Director Nikolay Hadjiev were in Doupnitsa in connection with the search for Yanek Milanov, 43, who disappeared nearly a month ago after getting into the car of a fellow resident of the town. RI/LG
