site.btaPlovdiv Hosts Urban Wine Fest on International Mavrud Day

Urban Wine Fest - Plovdiv 2023, dedicated to International Mavrud Day, is taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The festival is celebrated for the fourth consecutive year and promotes the centuries-old wine traditions in Bulgaria and modern Bulgarian winemaking.

This is the last destination of the festival, which is organized by the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAWP), and has already visited Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo and Varna. In Plovdiv, the festival takes place in front of the Central Post Office.

Wine lovers in Plovdiv will be able to get acquainted with over 40 wines from 17 Bulgarian authentic local varieties, presented by wine experts, and to enjoy delicious food. 

The main selection of wines for the four festivals includes 36 labels of 34 wineries from all wine regions of Bulgaria: sparkling wines, whites, rosés, ambers, reds. In each of the festivals, the main selection was joined by 5 wines from regional wineries and so in total at each event wine lovers had the opportunity to taste 41 wines.

Urban Wine Fest Plovdiv 2023 is an initiative of BAWP and is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism, with the official support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Municipality of Plovdiv. The event is funded by the annual tourism development programme of the Municipality of Plovdiv for 2023.

International Mavrud Day of is an initiative that aims to stimulate interest in Bulgarian viticulture and wine production, to present the qualities of Bulgarian local varieties, to highlight the harmony between millenary traditions, innovative technologies, quality and stylistic diversity of wines produced in Bulgaria.
