The annual meeting of the Macedonian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, which was held in Skopje on Wednesday, elected Bilyana Miteva as the new president of the chamber, which was established in 2011.

Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia Angel Angelov called the beginning of the upcoming term of the chamber's president a big test. In December, a forum with business representatives from both countries will be held in Sofia, which should attract interested companies from both countries because of the business opportunities that the statistics on trade between Bulgaria and North Macedonia show. According to Miteva, for the first eight months of this year there has been an increase in exports from Bulgaria to North Macedonia by 5.6%, the growth of exports from North Macedonia to Bulgaria is 8.2%, and the total trade between the two countries in 2023 is expected to exceed EUR 1 billion.

Miteva has over twenty years of experience in managing companies with various activities.

Her plans include increasing the number of Chamber members to expand opportunities for new business practices in both countries, participating in the selection of delegates to economic forums and conferences in both countries, implementing projects funded by cross-border cooperation programmes, international organizations and government funds, regularly organizing conferences and seminars to facilitate partnerships and meetings between companies from both countries, cooperating with government agencies to promote the investment opportunities and supporting business investment processes, initiating joint projects to promote trade, tourism and cultural exchange.

The Macedonian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce was established in 2011, and to date has 15 member companies and businesses from both countries. Its main priorities are to promote economic ties between different companies on both sides of the border, linking the common interests of its members and encouraging the improvement of their work, as well as to institutionally promote and increase trade between the two countries.
