Parliament adopted unanimously a declaration in support of Israel. It was proposed by deputies of GERB-UDF, Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and was backed by all 124 MPs in the plenary hall.

The declaration says that "Operation Iron Swords is an inevitable and necessary reciprocal response: an act to protect the lives and dignity of Israelis and the right to exist of the State of Israel itself." "We also acknowledge that there are over two million Palestinians living in Gaza who also suffer under Hamas's tyranny and are being used as human shields," the declaration added.

It calls on the international community to stand in solidarity with Israel and support its efforts to protect the lives and security of its citizens. It stresses that it is crucial that Hamas and all terrorist organizations be held accountable for their actions and that the necessary pressure be exerted to end the acts of violence and terror that undermine the prospects for peace and stability in the region.

"In light of the brutal, unprecedented and audacious terrorist attack on innocent Israeli civilians on October 7, we, as part of the parties and parliamentary groups of Israel's partner and ally countries around the world, express our sympathy and unwavering support for our Israeli friends. We unanimously express our respect for the courage and resolve demonstrated in the ongoing Operation Iron Swords, aimed at neutralizing the threat of Hamas and ensuring the safety and security of the Israeli people, with all its religious and ethnic groups, but also of the entire region," the declaration said.
