Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev will participate in the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Marrakech from October 12 to 15, the Ministry of Finance said. The Bulgarian delegation is represented by the Minister of Finance as well as the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, Dimitar Radev, as they are governors for Bulgaria in the two international financial institutions.

Keystones of the Annual Meetings are the Plenary session, the Development Committee and the International Monetary and Financial Committee meetings.

Members of the Bulgarian delegation will hold meetings with WBG and IMF management teams and financial sector representatives and will participate in working formats at the level of ministers and central bank governors on topics related to global economic and financial challenges, risks and prospects against the backdrop of the series of crises the world is experiencing. Reforms and priorities in the work of the IMF and WBG organisations are also expected to be a focus of the discussions.

This year's annual meetings began on October 9. Traditionally the meetings take place in the autumn following a schedule - two years in a row in Washington, D.C., followed by a third year in another IMF and/or WBG member country.

This is the first IMF-WBG annual meeting in Africa since 1973, when the forum was held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
