Bulgarian, French Business Associations Sign Cooperation Agreement Aiming to Enhance Contacts and Trade

Bulgarian and French business associations will sign a cooperation agreement aiming to enhance contacts and trade. That transpired during a Bulgarian-French business forum held in Sofia Thursday. Attending are representatives of over 100 French companies who are here to explore the prospects for the Bulgarian economy, the network of business organizations and relations with the trade unions.

The President of the Movement of the Enterprises of France in the Rennes Region, Eric Challan Belval, who leads the delegation of business representatives, said that they are planning to visit ten large companies in Bulgaria in leading sectors of the economy. "We are here to enhance relations between Bulgaria and France in all sectors where the two countries can partner," he said.

Deputy Economy and Industry Minister Nikolay Pavlov said in his remarks during the business forum that Bulgaria is a regional leader with its 1,600 startups every year. He said that the government is taking measures to step up economic growth; ensure Bulgaria's accession to Schengen; provide a climate that is favorable for investors by planning and building business zones. He said that EUR 1.8 billion in foreign investment has been invested in Bulgaria since the start of 2023, proving that this country is a reliable partner.

The French business delegation is accompanied by French MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament's International Trade Committee Marie-Pierre Vedrenne.

The business forum was organized by the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) with support from the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Attending on the Bulgarian side were BIA member companies and partners.
