Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov Friday handed over keys for 32 new vehicles to the Fire Safety and Civil Protection General Directorate (FSCPGD). The vehicles have been purchased under a project, financed by the Environment Operational Programme 2014-2020, for the integration, upgrade and optimization of the processes on prevention, preparedness and response to natural based risks. The project's total cost approximates BGN 20 million.
“This is just a small fraction of what is about to be purchased,” Stoyanov said, adding that a total of 385 vehicles are in the process of being procured: 285 fire engines and 100 special-equipment vehicles. He pointed out that all of this is made possible by European funding and gave the General Directorate’s staff credit for their work.
Stoyanov said that there are also projects for the refurbishment of some 15 FSCPGD fire safety workplaces across the country and the purchase of 6,000 personal protection kits.
