About 150 amateur cyclists from seven countries - Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium and Great Britain - will gather in Vidin on September 4 for a group ride along the Danube Ultra route. Veterans, amateurs and more advanced athletes will take part in the initiative.

The start of the 10th anniversary edition of the bike ride will be given on September 5 in Vidin, and the cause of the event is to promote more than 110 settlements along the Danube and in Dobrudzha, where the route passes.

First at the start will line up the more advanced cyclists who will challenge themselves to cover the distance of 700 km in less than 48 hours. Participants who have ridden the route more than three times will have their names inscribed on their cycling shirts, and all those who successfully reach the end point, Durankulak, within 10 days will receive a certificate.

Twelve municipalities are participating as official partners, providing support checkpoints for cyclists along the route. The locations are specially selected spots where the cyclists will pass and share photos.

In recent years the Danube Ultra has established itself as the most popular tourist route in Bulgaria. Several hundred cyclists travel the route every year, contributing to the local economy and tourism development. It is expected that this year the run will bring in over BGN 250,000 to local tourism.

The initiative has its own mobile app with information on attractions, logistics and nearly 300 recommended partners - this way anyone can organise a walk in this interesting region on their own.

Official partners of the upcoming event are: the municipalities of Vidin, Mizia, Oryahovo, Dolna Mitropolia, Gulyantsi, Belene, Nikopol, Dve Mogili, Ruse, Silistra, General Toshevo and Shabla.
