site.btaTurnover in Air Transport Plummets by Over 75% in Q3

November 23 (BTA) - In the third quarter of 2020, the turnover index in air transport plummeted by 75.1 per cent from this time last year, according to preliminary seasonally adjusted data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) Monday. The NSI report covers the activities included in "Transportation, Storage and Post", "Information and Communication", and "Other Business Services".

Annual changes

The year-on-year index decrease for the entire sector of "Transportation, Storage and Post" was 13.9 per cent, with the largest drop, as mentioned, being the 75.1 per cent in air transport, followed by water transport with 34.7 per cent. An increase was seen only in postal and courier activities (19.4 per cent).

The total working day adjusted turnover index in "Information and Communication" went up by 10 per cent from this time last year, with the largest increase being in telecommunications (24.7 per cent). The most significant drop was registered in motion picture, video and TV programme production, music publishing activities (by 42.5 per cent).

In "Other Business Services", a decrease was reported in almost all activities. The worst drop was in travel agency, tour operator and other reservation services and related activities (70.3 per cent), while the highest growth was seen in legal, accounting and management consultancy activities (16 per cent).

Quarterly changes

The Q3 total turnover index in "Transportation, Storage and Post" increased by 9.5 per cent from the previous quarter, with the greatest increase seen in water transport (15.5 per cent) and land transport (14.1 per cent), and a decrease reportedly only in air transport (16.8 per cent).

The Q3 total turnover index in "Information and Communication" increased by 7.3 per cent from the previous quarter. The largest increase was seen in motion picture, video and TV programme production, music publishing activities (29.6 per cent) and publishing activities (22.6 per cent).

In "Other Business Services", an increase was observed in almost all activities in the sector, the biggest quarterly increase being in travel agency, tour operator and other reservation services and related activities (127 per cent) and advertising and market research (35.5 per cent), while the highest decrease was seen in architectural and engineering activities, technical testing and analysis (6.1 per cent).
