site.btaBulgarian Authorities Unveil National COVID-19 Vaccination Plan

Sofia, December 3 (BTA) - The Bulgarian health authorities
Thursday unveiled a national COVID-19 vaccination plan. It was
presented by Health Minister Kostadin Angelov and Chief Health
Inspector Angel Kunchev during a working meeting with Prime
Minister Boyko Borissov, but is yet to be approved by the
Council of Ministers on Friday, which will also approve the
members of the national vaccination taskforce, the Cabinet press
 service informed.

Minister Angelov said that the coronavirus immunization plan was
 drawn up based on the experience of countries like Germany and
international institutions including the WHO.

"The plan is ready, and we are prepared to handle the first
batch of vaccines as early as tomorrow," Prof Krasimir Gigov,
head of the national vaccination taskforce, was quoted as
saying. He added that the first groups to be inoculated have
been determined: doctors, nurses, orderlies, frontline police
officers, followed by people over 70 years of age.

The plan will contain detailed descriptions of all the
parameters of the vaccination process.

Prime Minister Borissov said that as soon as the first vaccines
arrive, the State will be prepared to inoculate every Bulgarian
citizen free of charge and if they as to be vaccinated.



Health Minister Angelov pointed out that to ensure glitch-free
vaccination process, Bulgaria will be divided into seven
regions. In addition, mobile medical teams will be visiting
places where large groups of people need to be inoculated such
as retirement homes and schools.
   
Prime Minister Borissov requested the continued supply of the
necessary quantities of life saving medications against the
novel coronavirus, including remdesivir. He pointed out that the
 medicine is free for all Bulgarian citizens. The Government has
 procured over 17,000 packages worth almost 15 million leva. The
 Prime Minister also noted the importance of Wednesday's
delivery of over 300,000 doses of low-molecular-weight heparin.
