site.btaBanking System's Profit Stands at Lv 866 Million as at End-November

Sofia, January 1 (BTA) - As at November 30, 2020, the profit of
the banking system  stood at 866 million leva, 663 million leva
(43.4 per cent  per cent) less than a year earlier, the
Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) reported on Thursday.

The balance sheet total stood at 120.6 billion leva as at
end-November, up by 1.4 billion leva (1.2 per cent).

The gross credit and advances portfolio of the banking system
increased in November by 1.4 per cent (1.1 billion leva) to 79.8
 billion leva. Claims from lending institutions increased by 5.8
 per cent (555 million leva) to 10.2 billion leva.

The gross loan portfolio increased in November by 0.7 per cent
(512 million leva) to 69.6 billion leva. Loans to households
increased by 0.6 per cent (162 million leva), those to
non-financial corporations by 1.0 per cent (390 million leva),
and those to the general government sector by 1.3 per cent (14
million leva). Loans to other financial corporations decreased
by 1.1 per cent (54 million leva).
 
Deposits in the banking system increased by 1.2 per cent (1.2
billion leva) in November to 102.3 billion leva. The deposits of
 households increased by 0.8 per cent (456 million leva) and
those of non-financial corporations went up by 2.2 per cent (668
 million leva). The deposits of other financial corporations
increased by 2.8 per cent (100 million leva) and those of credit
 institutions rose by 1.1 per cent (43 million leva). The
deposits of the general government sector decreased by 3.4 per
cent (89 million leva).

Over the month, the total equity on the balance sheet of the
banking system increased by 100 million leva (0.7 per cent) to
15.3 billion leva.

Under the Procedure for Deferral and Settlement of Liabilities
Payable to Banks and their Subsidiaries - Financial
Institutions, in relation to the state of emergency enforced by
the National Assembly on March 13, 2020, as at November 30, 2020
 a total of 105,081 applications were filed for liabilities with
 a gross carrying amount of 9,257 million leva, of which 86,184
applications for 8,223 million leva were approved. Corporations
filed 12,960 applications amounting to 7,329 million leva, and
11,495 of them amounting to 6,533 million leva were approved.
Households filed 92,121 applications for 1,928 million leva, of
which 74,689 applications amounting to 1,690 million leva were
approved. Compared to the end of October 2020, the number of
approved applications decreased by 2,264, and the amount
approved under them dropped by 311 million leva.

Also on Thursday, the BNB announced a base interest rate (simple
 per annum interest) of 0.00 per cent, effective January 1,
2021. The base interest rate has been 0.00 per cent since May
