Pavel Banya expects a very strong summer tourist season, with the hotels in the resort town already full while the number of tourists has nearly tripled since 2019, the Mayor of the municipality, Isa Besoolu, said in an interview for BTA.

Indicatively, although the resort fee has not been raised during his time in office, the amount collected per year before 2019 was about BGN 120,000, while last year Pavel Banya collected BGN 320,000, Besoolu said. He commented that besides the local administration, the credit also goes to the hoteliers who offer very good service and attract many tourists, which helps the town to develop.

Besoolu explained that the municipality of Pavel Banya is developing as a year-round spa and tourist destination, 95% of the tourists are Bulgarians, and many of them visit the resort annually. Currently the accommodation capacity is around 2,500 beds, not including the guest houses and room rentals.

In recent years a number of infrastructure improvements have been made in Pavel Banya, roads have been repaired, new parking spaces have been provided and parking everywhere is free, the mayor recalled. "The only problem is that so far there are not enough funds for the renovation of Pavel Banya's municipal swimming pool, which could be used by all citizens and tourists," he commented and expressed hope that this would also happen soon.
