The level of the Ogosta River near the village of Hayredin is expected to drop in the coming hours, the Mayor of the municipality Todor Alexiev told BTA. He explained that the release of the Ogosta dam near Montana has stopped because it no longer rains in the area. During the night the river spilled and reached the dikes that protect the village and the additional embankments that were made on June 17, but it did not overcome them. The road to Kozloduy has been flooded and police patrols have stopped vehicles. "We coped, we did our job. The evacuated people have returned to their homes, we are still keeping the animals away from several sites, but I guess they will be collected in the late afternoon as well," explained Alexiev.

We remind that late last night the municipality of Hayredin also declared a partial state of emergency due to the start of the release of the dam Ogosta and the expected rise in the level of the river of the same name.

The heavy rains in the North-West caused flooding and damage in a number of settlements in the Vratsa region and currently there is a partial state of disaster in the municipalities of Vratsa, Krivodol and Mezdra.
