A total of 17 MPs have been reprimanded over Thursday's tension in the plenary, which led to the suspension of the parliamentary sitting.

The names of those sanctioned were announced by Parliament Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov on Friday.

Twelve Vazrazhdane MPs have been reprimanded. These include Nikolay Drenchev, Svetoslav Todorov, Slavcho Krumov, Angel Georgiev, Zlatan Zlatanov, Tsoncho Ganev, Veselin Veshev, Kliment Shopov, Yordan Todorov, Stanislav Stoyanov, Violeta Karpacheva and Emil Yankov.

The other five are from the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria's Parliamentary Group and include Yavor Bozhankov, Konstantin Bachiyski, Manol Peykov, Iskren Mitev and Nastimir Ananiev.

"You yourselves have witnessed this mass violation, which can best be described by the term of our Western neighbours as "a brawl". I am clearly aware that a part of them may have been in the position of defending themselves, so there is a possibility that this could be challenged as well," Rosen Zhelyazkov said when announcing the sanctions.
