Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Aleksiev signed the decision on the selection of a contractor to carry out flights with helicopters for the needs of the emergency air medical services, the Transport Ministry said here on Thursday.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications opened the procedure for the selection of a contractor to carry out helicopter flights for the needs of the emergency air medical services on March 27. The Italian company ALIDAUNIA S.R.L. and the Spanish company AVINCIS AVIATION ESPANA, SAU submitted bids by the deadline of May 4.

"I am delighted that two of Europe's most reputable companies in the field of air ambulance have taken part in the tender. I hope that by mid-July 2023 Bulgaria will already have helicopters and crews for the needs of its citizens. Human life and health are an absolute priority for us, so this is yet another commitment made and fulfilled by the caretaker government," said Deputy Prime Minister Hristo Aleksiev. The flights will be carried out from two bases in Bulgaria. The order is for a period of two years with an option to extend for another.

After examination and evaluation of the tenders for optimum value for money and in accordance with the proposed parameters for the performance of the contract, ALIDAUNIA S.R.L. was awarded first place.
