Dir.bg Awards Winners in Web Report Competition

Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov and sports legend Yordan Yovchev were among the special guests of the Web Report contest organized by Dir.bg who presented awards to the winners on Tuesday evening.

A total of 185 journalists applied this year, the organizers said.

The winner in the "Society" category is Marieta Nikolaeva from Nova TV for "Junkids", "True Stories" went to Gergana Venkova from bTV for "The Song of Salvation: a Father and Daughter Embraced 105 Hours Under the Ruins", "Economics" - Anina Santova from Capital for "A ten-year network of connections for millions in Sofia's auctions: from Vidin through Cyprus", "Technology and Innovation" - Rossen Tsvetkov from bTV for the report "5G - Beyond the Myths", "Culture and Art" - Georgi Karamanev for "Digital Stories", and "Sport" - Stanimira Atanasova from bTV for "Letter to You".

Special prizes were awarded for video reportage - "The war in Ukraine: a few stories later" by Alexander Markov from BNT, photo reportage - "24 Hours on the Nurburgring" by Lyubomir Asenov from LAP, and podcast - "Transplants: the state is abdicating!" by Gergana Hrischeva from BNR.

The "Master of the Word" and "Young Author" awards went to Rossen Razpopov, a student at the mathematical school "Kiril Popov" in Plovdiv, for an article published in Scoolmedia - "The fight for the monuments of culture with the aroma of tobacco".

Among the prizes this year was “Green Quill” - for journalism responsible to nature, and it went to Blagoy Tsitselkov from Nova TV - for the story "The Danube Desert".

bTV reporters Beste Sabri and Ivan Georgiev were awarded in the "Hotspot" category for their stories on the earthquake in Turkiye.

The special prize for "Journalistic Excellence" went to BNT journalist Bogdana Lazarova, for her investigation "Call centres and the fatal consequences for the Bulgarian youth working in them".

Web Report is held with the official support of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists. Its media partners are BTA, BNT, BNR, bTV Media Group, OFFNews.bg, Manager magazine, Dnes.bg, MM TV and the BulFoto agency.
