Slumps 73.2% in Q4 of 2020 Y/Y


Sofia, February 24 (BTA) - According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), the total turnover index, working day adjusted, in travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities declined by 73.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2020, compared to a year earlier.

The total turnover index in transportation, storage and post decreased by 1.5 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2020 year-on-year. The drop was largest in air transport (57.7 per cent) and water transport (26.0 per cent). An increase was registered in postal and courier activities (16.4 per cent) and land transport (3.6 per cent).

In other business services, an increase was observed in most activities compared to the last quarter of 2019. The largest increase was in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (13.9 per cent), the NSI said.

The total working day adjusted turnover index in information and communication rose by 7.0 per cent compared to the last quarter of 2019. The largest increase was seen in telecommunications (28.5 per cent). The most significant drop was registered in motion picture, video and TV programme production, and music publishing activities (31.6 per cent).

The total turnover index in transportation, storage and post, calculated on the basis of seasonally adjusted data, increased by 8.7 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared to the previous quarter. The increase was greatest at 15.1 per cent in warehousing and support activities for transportation. A decrease was registered only in air transport (0.9 per cent).

The total turnover index for information and communication increased by 0.7 per cent in the last quarter of 2020 compared to the previous quarter. The increase was largest in programming and broadcasting activities (8.6 per cent) and motion picture, video and TV programme production, and music publishing activities (7.2 per cent). A decrease by 11.6 per cent was seen in publishing activities.

In other business services, the largest growth compared with the previous quarter was registered in architectural and engineering activities; technical testing and analysis (8.6 per cent) and security and investigation activities (5.3 per cent).
