Yambol and Dobrich are the two municipalities in Bulgaria that will participate in the Vision 2045 Project, financed by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) from the German government, reported the press centre of the local government in Yambol.
Over 50 municipalities in the country applied for the project. The results from the competitive selection were announced on March 6 by the National Trust EcoFund (NTEF).
The two municipalities will participate with two schools each - Yambol's Vasil Karagyozov Language High School and Lyuben Karavelov Primary School, and the Petko Rachov Slaveykov Secondary School and Dimitar Talev Secondary School.
The project will be implemented by April 2025 in three countries - Bulgaria, Slovenia and Poland, and two municipalities with two schools each have been selected from each. The goal is to join efforts in the creation and experimental application of an innovative model for achieving climate neutrality at the local level.
Vision 2045 is implemented by an international consortium led by The Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU), with which NTEF has a long-standing partnership. The other partners are the Energy cities association of municipalities in Krakow, Poland, and the Regional Energy Agency of Savinska, Saleska and Koroska regions in Slovenia.
