Despite the complex international environment, resource shortages and the conflict in Ukraine, in 2022 the Bulgarian Navy fulfilled successfully its tasks and made efforts to improve its preparation, said Friday Defence Chief Admiral Emil Eftimov, quoted on the website on the Defence Ministry, during an assessment of the preparation and the discipline in the Navy in 2022 at the Naval headquarters in Varna.
Eftimov gave high marks to the Navy activities in 2022 and thanked Bulgarian seamen for their efforts, the professionalism and the responsibility.
Within the assessment it was found that the efforts of Navy were aimed at building and development of capabilities adequate to the new risks and threats. The highlights of the preparation were maintenance and use of the available capabilities to ensure Bulgaria’s maritime sovereignty through the implementation of tasks in connections with the missions of the armed forces, improving capabilities for monitoring, warning and communication about the situation in maritime areas, shipping, protection of maritime communications and maritime economy.
