Sofia, July 8 (BTA) - The development of connectivity will help
the economic integration in the region, Greek President Katerina
Sakellaropoulou said, speaking at the Presidential Panel of a
business forum within the Sixth Summit of the Three Seas
Initiative which started on Thursday in Sofia.
The pandemic has taught people about the importance of digital
transformation in their economies and that they have to develop
them very quickly, she commented, pointing out that everyone
should emerge from the pandemic stronger than before.

The 3SI is becoming increasingly important in the region, it
develops cooperation between the countries in the region and
meets their common needs. It is no secret that the
infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe lags behind that in
Western Europe, the Greek President said, recalling that 3SI
was established as a platform to guarantee strong political
support for fast economic development and enhanced interregional
and transborder cooperation and connectivity between these
countries. This regional cooperation allows the members to
protect their common interests and the common interests of the
EU, to develop important infrastructural projects, she
commented. Greece is becoming an important energy hub with its
own contribution to EU energy independence.

Sakellaropoulou also underscored the importance of development
of transport infrastructure and the projects aimed at protection
 of the environment.
