site.btaBSP to Seek Consensus on Common Proposals about Budget Revision

August 31 (BTA) -  The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)
will propose to the anti-establishment parties There Is Such a
People, Democratic Bulgaria and Rise Up BG! Here We Come! to
hold a meeting in order to discuss common priorities and
proposals on the 2021 budget revision as well as shorter
deadlines between the first and second reading of the bill, said
BSP leader Kornelia Ninova during a meeting with trade unions
and employer organizations on Tuesday.

Ninova expects from all parties to act responsibly so that the
state and the people can cope with the looming crises. The
meeting should take place as soon as possible and the common
priorities have to be guaranteed by the signatures of the MPs.

The trade unions and employers were categorical that the budget
revision is necessary and though the proposals of the caretaker
government may not be the best they are near the maximum which
can be achieved in the current situation. They said that failure
to pass the budget revision is the most worrying thing which
could happen.

Podkrepa Labour Confederation President Dimiter Manolov said
that he is angry and disappointed with the total
irresponsibility about the fate of the state and with the fact
that "political dwarfs"are trying to speak on behalf of the
people.

Vanya Grigorova of Podkrepa asked for a cap on the prices of PCR
tests, underscoring that Bulgarians have paid out-of-pocket 122
million leva for tests. She urged the BSP to support a proposal
of the caretaker cabinet which envisages an increased ratio of
a year of contributory service. "For ten years there has been no
talk of the recalculation of pensions at all and there wonТt be
during the next tenure either. Do it now!, she said.

Employers think that the budget revision is urgent because of
the need for support for businesses and workers. The quoted the
latest statistical data that the total business climate
indicator has dropped by 2-3 percentage point from the previous
month, which shows a worsening of the environment and the need
for state support. Those who have lost their jobs exceed the
number of people starting work. DD/PP
