Sofia, October 8 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 516,510, after 18,808 tests identified 2,302 new infections on Thursday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 12.2 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 526 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 226 cases and Varna Region with 149.

The active cases are 49,352. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,374, including 463 in intensive care.

The infected medical staff have reached 14,724.

Another 1,572 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 445,653.

Ninety-four fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 21,505.

With 7,716 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,577,957 vaccine doses have been administered so far and 1,354,896 people are fully vaccinated and 3,840 have received a booster jab.

Starting Monday, October 11, a specially equipped bus for vaccination of all arrivals will be located at Terminal 1 in front of the Arrivals building of Sofia Airport, the airport announced.

Emergency teams will administer Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen and Astra Zeneca jabs. Those who receive the first dose can complete their immunization at a medical facility or mobile point of their choice, and those vaccinated with Janssen or who have been given the second dose of other vaccines will immediately be issued European certificates. If you decide to travel, it is important to know that the certificate is valid for 14 days after the completion of the full vaccination cycle, Sofia Airport said.

The vaccination point will be open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., and if people are interested and willing to be vaccinated, their stay can be extended.
